eBay's "Minimum Bid Increment"
For a bid to register on eBay, the "minimum bid increment" must be added to the current price.
The MBI (minimum bid increment) is forgotten in times of heated competition, but it factors in big time into everything. To avoid misses due to bid increment, make sure to "pad" your bid by as much as two or three bid increments, using the chart below. In most cases the amount to pad is at least $10, sometimes over $100, depending on the Current Price.
The incremental amount is predetermined based on the current high bid on the item. The following table shows the amount of bid increments.
