eBay's "Minimum Bid Increment"

For a bid to register on eBay, the "minimum bid increment" must be added to the current price.

Click here for eBay's minimum bid pricing structure.

Example: Consider an auction where Fred and Mary are competing for the win:

Case 1 - Mary's High bid Wins

Case 2 - Mary's High Bid Loses!

The auction begins.

The auction begins.

Fred bids $100.

Fred bids $100.

Mary bids $110.

Mary bids $101.

Mary wins the auction since $110 beats $100.

Mary's higher bid of $101 does NOT win this time. She didn't meet the minimum bid increment of $ 1.50. Her bid will not show up in the bidding history.

To avoid misses due to bid increment, bid aggressively!
