Why is 5 seconds the best snipe time?

We attempt to place bids exactly 5 seconds for all snipes. There is no point in using any other value.  Some services let you choose the snipe time, but we feel this is a distraction. Why complicate things ... by making you fret over the snipe time ... when it doesn't matter?

We could pick any number we wanted. Here's why we choose five (5):

  • A human can snipe an item generally within six (6) seconds.  Therefore, the snipe time must be five seconds or less.

  • You always want your bid to be first. In case of a tie, the higher bid will NOT win, if it is placed last. That's right! You will lose if your bid is not exactly one minimum bid increment above your opponents. Your bid has to come first.

So, if a service advertises this customization, use caution. Most customers use that feature to "pad seconds" to their bids so they won't miss! Since accuracy is not a problem with us, you don't have to worry about setting the snipe time.
